The Electroliner offered high speed, quiet, smooth, pollution free transit in first class style from Milwaukee to Chicago. The service started in 1941 and continued until 1963. Cruising speed was usually held to 80 mph due to limitations of track technology, the Electroliner could go much faster. People who live along the right of way on Milwaukee's 6th St. claim that on a night with a full moon and after consuming a couple six packs of 'Old Milwaukee', the old Electroliner can still be seen, headlight glaring, motor's whirring. |
